And from the look of the website its not like this is some charity group that happens to hand bibles along with food to the starving or soemthing like that. So I dont have a lot of sympathy for the officers caught up in this. But I do have to facepalm at the ferverence Weinstein brings to the cause. Good job ( Read more... )

Dominionists are a kind of sect within the military of "ultra-Evangelicals." rwfranz and I mentioned them a couple of months ago. A Jewish ex-US Air Force officer wrote an article about how he and his son have been "hazed" by these Dominionists while they served. They are hard core Christians who believe in conversion by coersion, or destruction of those who won't convert to Christianity. They are very much modern Crusaders, and see the US going to war in the Middle East very much as "taking back the Holy Lands." They're a kind of scary lot.

yikes...I remember these guys now...i heard a report on newshour about the hazing of the jewish officers...I didnt realize how hard core these guys were...the couple they talked to on camera (come to think of it they coulda been friends of members my memory is shoddy) didnt seem too much scarier than your typical fundies
