I've made progress with my master's thesis, too. (Thank god!) It should be 60-80 pages, and it can exceed the maximum page number by 20 % but it can't be any less than the minimum page number. It's nice to have leeway because even as it is, aiming for a certain page number (at this scale) is surprisingly hard. Mine is is now 65 pages and there are some sub sections that I haven't even started writing yet, so I'm afraid mine is going to be 80 pages + 20 % by the time I'm done with it. *sigh*
Actually, it's not nice to have that leeway. It would be better to have a strict maximum page number!
Anyway. What's your thesis about?

Eugh. Forty pages was hard, and while there are chances that it could get bigger or smaller, I can't see it being a huge difference. Some first drafts are longer and others are shorter, according to the department. I'm not bothered -- even though I'm walking the graduation in May, I can't actually graduate since I haven't been able to get a professional internship. So if I can fulfill that requirement over the summer or next year, then I will actually have my degree. (That's what I need to jump on next -- internship and a job to make ends meet in the meantime! I'm probably going to end up slinging coffee, ew -- ... actually that would be a decent job for me. Coffee makes me sick, so I wouldn't spend my paycheck there!)
I wrote about my project, which was a translation of Spring Awakening followed with a gender ( ... )

But it would have been smart to stick to something I know about. If I had analysed the representation of women in some novel or play, I would have finished my thesis two years ago!
Anyway, good luck on finding that internship!
