Dramione_duet Round 12 2020 is Going Ahead!

Over the past few days, several people have contacted me asking whether there will be a round of dramione_duet in 2020. I'd been trying to decide what to do this year, and their enthusiasm has prodded me into making the following decisions:

• yes, we will have a Round 12, but
  
  
• it won't be the traditional series of duets, but something more like a regular fest.

I've decided we need to do things differently this year because, when two writers or artists are paired, both must submit a work before the duet can be posted. This not only puts extra pressure on the participants, it also means that if one partner's forced to drop out, I must quickly find a pinch-hitter -- or pinch-hit myself ;-) -- and the pinch-hitter must work like lightning!

And in 2020, although I'm sure that many people will welcome having a Dramione project to take their mind off other things, I do fear that more people than usual are likely to find themselves dropping out -- not, I hope, for health reasons, but just because everything is so much more complicated.

So, this year, I'll be asking people to submit prompts. There are some Prompt Guidelines on the Community Profile page, and the Call for Prompts post will provide you with a form to fill in but, basically, anything goes except for underage sex, provided it's Dramione. Since posting will begin in late November, a Yuletide theme would be fun, but is not mandatory. Alternatively, you may want to explore aspects of the current situation -- I'll leave that up to you. You will have the option to prompt anonymously, or to give your permission for your username to be provided to the writer/artist, together -- IF YOU WISH -- with your permission to contact you via LJ PM to discuss your idea.

Note that giving your permission does not guarantee that the writer/artist will decide to contact you, but I thought that making it possible for participants and prompters to get in touch would be a nice way to retain some of the elements of a duet.

Writers and artists will sign up more or less as usual. There are Guidelines on the Community Profile page, and the Sign-up Post will provide a form for you to fill in. Participants will have the option to say whether or not they would like to contact their prompter(s) if a prompter has consented to be contacted.

The Call for Prompts and the Sign-ups will close on the same day. I will then match each participant with THREE prompts and send out the assignments. Completed works must be posted at AO3 on or before 15 November 2020. I will provide detailed instructions for posting with the assignment.

Finally, we should have no need for pinch-hitters this year, but anyone who wants to write a second story (or -- within reason -- to join the fest late) can to contact me by PM, and ask for THREE more prompts!

Let's hope, in 2020, we get our usual crop of brilliant Dramione stories and artworks!
