Chapter Ten

Maxie turned away when Georgie jumped into Spinelli’s arms. Why did her sister have to invite him over for Thanksgiving? Sure she had invited Coop, but that was because he didn’t have a family in Port Charles, Spinelli had people he could spend Thanksgiving with.

They hadn’t really talked since her birthday. She’d seen him around and she had even tried to approach him, when no one was looking of course, but he ignored her. It was like her birthday never happened.   She herself wanted to forget everything about that night, except for the time that they shared together. She thought things were different between them, but she was wrong.

“Spinelli, only you and Georgie would remember what was served at the first Thanksgiving,” Mac commented as they finished setting the table.

Of course he would, he and Georgie are perfect for each other. Maxie took her seat beside Coop, across from Spinelli and Georgie.

Throughout the dinner, Maxie couldn’t help but sneak a couple of looks his way. It seemed like he was having a good time with her family, which bothered her. He made it so hard for her to stay angry with him. Did he think she was angry with him? Is that the reason for the space? She needs to show him that that wasn’t the case.

She listened to the family talk as she slipped her foot out of her ballet flat. The cold air hit her bare foot first, but that was soon replaced by his warm skin. The hair on his leg tickled her foot as she ran it up the leg of his jeans. He jumped. She smiled.

Georgie asked “What’s wrong Spinelli?”

Maxie frowned at the concern in her sister’s voice.

“No…nothing,” he stuttered. “All’s well Wise Georgie.”

Maxie dug her toe into his leg when he smiled at Georgie. When was he going to learn that she doesn’t like to share? She ran her foot further up his leg.

He jumped up from the table. “Commissioner Sir, the Jackal greatly appreciates this wonderful feast, but he must take his leave.”

No he’s not. Maxie jumped up too. “Mac needs you to look at my computer before you go,” she stated.

“That’s right, she asked me to look at it earlier, but I told I’d have you do it when you got here. I’ll pay you of course,” Mac explained.

“No, no, that’s not necessary. You invited the Jackal over for Thanksgiving, so it’s the least I can do.”

“Good, it’s in Maxie’s room; she’ll show you the way. Georgie, Coop, why don’t you help me and Robin clean up.”

Maxie smiled as her family began cleaning the table. She walked upstairs with Spinelli trailing behind her, making a special point to swing her hips on the way. She smiled when she heard a small moan escape his lips and opened the door to her room.

He rushed past her and over to her computer. She smiled as she closed the door and locked it behind them.

“What seems to be the problem?” he asked with his back to her.

“You,” she replied.

Spinelli turned to face her. “What?”

Talking was the last thing Maxie wanted to do. She walked over to him with a determined look on her face.

“The Bad Blonde One doesn’t have a computer problem, does she?”

Maxie smirked. “Well, I can’t get anything past you, can I Spinelli?”

He opened his mouth to reply and she interrupted him with her lips. Maxie pushed herself against him as she kissed with all the anger and passion she had been feeling over the past few weeks. She bit down hard on his bottom lip, forcing his mouth open. She wanted him to feel the pain that she had been feeling since her birthday.

Maxie gasped when he forcibly pushed her away from him, causing her to stumble back before falling on her bed.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” she whispered harshly, pushing herself up from the bed.

“Me?! What’s wrong with you?” he asked running the back of his hand over his bloodied lips.

She saw the blood trickling down his chin and she realized she bit him harder than she had intended. She tried to feel bad, but she couldn’t. He deserved it for ignoring her.

Maxie reached up and pulled the neckline of her shirt over to see a small bruise forming on her shoulder. “Your manhandling caused a bruise on my shoulder,” she snapped.

“You’re upset over a bruise when I’m the one bleeding? You can be such a bitch sometimes,” he stated, running his hand through his hair.

She flinched at his words. “Oh, I’m the bitch, am I? I gave you exactly what you deserved.”

He looked at her with confusion.

“I’ll explain it to you,” she stated, with her hands on her hips. “You have been ignoring me since my birthday and I’m tired of it. I thought things would be different between us,” she mumbled with her eyes in the floor. She didn’t want him to see the hurt that was evident in her eyes.

“I thought they’d be different too, but I was wrong.”

“What are you talking about? I’ve been trying to talk to you for the past three weeks.”

“The Jackal knows about you and the Clean Cut Cadet,” he simply stated.

Maxie looked at him with confusion. “What about me and Coop?”

“I know that you’re ‘trying’ to work things out.”

“We’re talking, that’s it. Coop and I are friends.” Maxie started to approach him, but he turned from her.

“The Jackal has heard that before.”

Realization hit Maxie like a ton of bricks. “So this is about Lulu,” she snapped.

He faced her. “I’m not going through that again. I refuse to be the third party.”

“Really? Well it didn’t seem to bother you that I was with Coop when you kissed me in the park.”

“That was a mistake.”

“Was it? So that night at Jason’s was a mistake too?”

“No, you were unattached at the time.”

“But I wasn’t at the ball,” she reminded him. “I went to the ball with another man, but that didn’t stop you from…”

“Going down on you? That’s the dirty term for it, is it not?” he asked with a smirk.

Maxie didn’t stop to think and slapped him with everything she had.  “Don’t EVER say that to me again. You’re the only man I’ve been with in months, but you don’t believe that, do you? You think that I’m nothing but a slut? That I’m easy? Well maybe I am. I’d have to be for you to get me, right? Because we know that you’ll NEVER get laid by anyone but me, which won’t be happening again,” she finished, feeling short of breath. She turned from him, holding her hand over her delicate heart, and tried to calm her ragged breaths. Her blood pressure must be through the roof.

“I hope you realize that she’ll never seek out your bed. She’ll never call your name out in ecstasy. She’ll never willing give herself to you. She’ll never see you for the man that you are. But that doesn’t matter, does it?” she chuckled bitterly. “Because there’s only room for one Blonde One in your heart, isn’t there?”

“Maximista,” he said, placing his hand on her back.

Maxie turned around and pushed him away. “Don’t ever call me that again. Get out,” she screamed.

“Maxie, I’m…”

“Get out!” she exclaimed as she turned her back to him.

She waited until she heard the soft click of the door closing behind him before she collapsed on her bed in tears. She knew now that she was nothing but trash to him. He’ll never love her the way she loves him, never.

Maxie jumped when someone knocked on her door. “Come in,” she replied as she dried her eyes.

“Maxie are you okay?” Georgie asked as she walked into the room.

“Yeah, why do you ask?” she asked, turning her face from her observant sister.

“Well, you and Spinelli were up here for a while…”

“We weren’t up that long Georgie,” she snapped.

“I know that Maxie. It’s just that Spinelli walked out of the house and slammed the door behind him. He wouldn’t even look at us. I’ve never seen him so mad before.”

Yeah, he didn’t want you to see the bruise on his cheek and the blood on his lips. Maxie turned over in the bed, moving further away from her sister. “I really don’t care Georgie,” she mumbled into her pillow.

“I thought you and Spinelli were getting along,” Georgie replied, running her hand over Maxie’s back.

God, I wish she’d stop babying me. “I thought we were too,” she whispered to herself.

“What was that?”

“Oh, I’m just a little tired, I think I’m going to take a nap,” she replied, giving her sister a smile over her shoulder.

“Alright, I’ll tell Coop that you’ll call him later.”

Maxie’s eyes burned as Georgie kissed her on her temple before walking out of the room. She turned over onto her right shoulder and flinched in pain. She cried even harder as she ran her hand over the bruise. She knew in time that the bruise on her arm would heal, but when would the bruise on her heart?

TBC

So I used a phrase in here that I REALLY hate, but I felt that it went along with the anger that both Maxie and Spinelli was feeling toward one another. I try not to use crude terms, so I apologize if I offended anyone.

Do y'all remeber what happens next last year??  Yes, more drama for Maxie, the poor thing :(.
