I'm curious; is there a system for choosing quotes or is it pretty much at random?

it actually depends on who's picking the quotes. Each mod takes a couple of stories and then picks quotes out of them. Some are designed to confused you, some aren't. Hee! *in my best Gollum voice* Tricksy mods.
