I know, from science, that we only really experience about 5% or so of what our senses take in. I've always used this knowledge to help me understand other people, and when they say "I know what I saw" Really, they didn't. or "I know what I've heard." but, really, they didn't ( Read more... )

Even if you've said some thing/things that have pushed some people away, it doesn't make you a monster. Unaware of self, perhaps, but not a monster. You didn't say things to purposefully hurt people. I know that. It also doesn't help that the majority of people we're friends with won't stop you and say, "hey, that was rude and really hurt my feelings." They take it in silence (who likes confrontation? We had enough of that with S.M.) and there it sits and festers because maybe they can't let go of it but you have no idea you've said it, or that it's been interpreted differently than the way you meant. *hugs*
