Holy cow! Apparently the next Tim Burton film is going to be Sweeney Todd. This may not be a big deal to most of you, but I hold a special place in my heart for Sweeney Todd, as it is a show I associate fondly with my lovely wife. She first introduced me to the show when I met her, and we have long insisted that some day we would perform A ( Read more... )

After the recent Broadway production, I can't tell you how much I really, really hope he's going to get Michael Cerveris for this. That has got to be one of the most inspired actor/character pairings ever.

Though I can't decide if adding Tim Burton to the mix will make it TOO weird, or absolutely fantastic. Hmmm...

Oh, right, I did hear about this. And I had the same reaction then that I'm having now. Namely that while I understand that Tim Burton is no longer capable of making a film unless Johnny Depp is involved, I'm not entirely sure he's right for the role. The reason Michael Cerveris was so PERFECT was that he portrayed that kind of...sad and pathetic thing that Sweeney Todd has going, but without become droopy or wimpy. He had CAJONES, man! And I just don't see Johnny Depp that way most of the time.

I seriously can't wait to see who Anthony Stewart Head is playing. :)

Yeah, my excitement comes more from both Anthony Stweart Head and Alan Rickman. But I'm willing to give Depp the chance.
