Holp! Suggestions please...
What would be a suitable medieval outfit for a 10 year old boy ??
Please describe.
From the sounds of his friends' descriptions, they & their parents don't know medieval from a slap in the face with a wet fish.
I'd like to get it right.
Simple & easy to construct by Wednesday is a big part of it too.
Ta much, in

i'd go with simple longsleeved shirt - peasant...so straight sleeves, fray the cuffs. square, shapeless body for the shirt to below the bottom (mid thigh).
twine/rope for a belt and just knot it - can hang a "purse" from it.
leggings/pants and boots for the feet.

Thanks.
Footwear is going to be the tough part. We have black Docs [yay Vinnies!], navy Converse sneakers [yay Auntie!] & a really really old festy pair of sneakers wih holes...
On the up side, I haven't had to buy him footwear in ages :-D

Wednesday? Ye gods. Slap them in the face with a wet fish.

T-Tunic, with loose trousers underneath.

Try http://www.geocities.com/hansensmtn/toby/basic_tunic.htm

and a pyjama pants pattern for the trousers.

Wear a belt around the tunic for a pouch, and a coif for the head

Thanks.
From further reading of the geocities site it seems a tunic has a shirt underneath. Should there be both?

Whew! It depends on what specifically is referred to as "medieval". I mean, there's over five hundred years of fashion involved!

Yes, tunics were generally two-layered. A linen undertunic and a wool overtunic. Other suggestions are worthwhile.

I hate it when they don't specify the exact era...
I'll be happy to have him not looking like a polyester-fantasy character.

Can I fake it for Qld weather with calico & ?something that might look wool-ish / coarse-spun if you don't look too hard ?
