I'm a steam-roller baby! Just a roll'n down the line...

Yep. I'm a frickin Sailor now training for the world's finest navy.

Schooling for a looong ass time, but the people can be very good and the instructors I've had are all fantastic so far. I've been very fortunate. Not only was I in an integrated division (low chance to be around females in boot camp to begin with), I was in a sponsored division, and ( Read more... )

I have every confidence you'll make an exellent serviceman and be a powerful credit to America. That's something you should be damn proud of too. Serving one's country is an honor and a testament to selflessness.

Yes, I had to go. You were so fun to talk to too. You were the highlight of my week, hell that entire month.

I've been posting about the Navy for the past.. 6-8 months or so, but yeah... up and went. I've had friends here, and did as much research as I had patience for (2-3 weeks). For the next 6 months I trained my ass off an hour a day every other day. Sometimes twice a day until I was formally sworn in as a recruit for the US Goverment.

I have my cell phone again. I'll be sure to call when I have time.

I'm kind of scared to ask what this "indoctrination" stuff is... nearly ALWAYS "indoctrination" is a bad thing.

Actually indoc school here is pretty damned fun. Went through topics that're important to everyone but especially young folk that don't know jack yet: Personal Financial management, sexual assault/equal opportunity/sexual harassment/hazing...

and I got to do it in an integrated (half male / female ratio mix) environment having the brother integrated divisions from boot camp here with me at the same time and being mixed with them. So me + females + useful info + fun motivated instructor (with a lot of fart jokes and ties topics in via sea stories) = good times!

Processing days at boot camp sucked ass though. Ok, any time where you must wait for hours at a time in line doing very little or waiting for shots in the arm or ass sucks ass.

Yay!

P.S. The TSP is awesome. In my year and a half of federal service, I had almost $9,000.

Hell yeah. I'm currently putting in ~900$ a month, and that money will grow big by the end of my 6 years of active duty.

Damn - very different than my military experience (knee deep in muck), but it sounds great. I am happy that you love it. Good sign!

Stay safe-ish. Not too safe. Chicks dig scars.

Snow. Lots and lots of snow--marching in, through, and shoveling.

Its spring/summer now though. I'm going to be in an advanced tech field too, so ultimately I will be in air conditioned work stations for normal days (not including duty days) if I get assigned to a ship.

My advanced tech field was more along the lines of, "Light the Fuse & Run!!!"
