Without doubt, this’ll be my most important post of the last three years…. for ‘tis time to turn the page to the next chapter, and say sayonara to sushi chefs and salary men, to English schools and the rising sun. My decision (return home, finally and for good) has been a long time on the brain, but short time in the making…. Sudden and surprising ( Read more... )

Good luck! Your work looks great to me.

As for whether or not you're a failure/quitter: I would guess that you aren't. A failure/quitter, to me, is someone who gives up on his dream because it's too much work, and then spends the rest of his life telling people about what could have been. In other words, he doesn't really even know what he wants. A smart person is someone who recognizes how his dream is most effectively achieved, and then acts accordingly. Based on what you've written in this post, I would say that the latter describes you best.

I had a very recent experience with backing out of a locale when the going got rough. Now that I'm more than a month removed from it, I'm more certain than ever that I made the right decision. For what it's worth, then, I hope that offers you some mild encouragement.

Will I regret my choices till the day I die, or can I pick up the pieces and start over?

Close a door, open a window... Bon chance, mon ami!

Granted, I'm the most emotional person that's ever lived, but I actually came close to tearing up reading this. We welcome you home with open arms, Mr. Cranch.

Oh -- and Jonelle, I did (full on) cry when I read your comment on MySpace. Sigh. I miss you.

Reunite post haste!

Bethany
