i'm really happy that you got to see him and enjoy his music before addiction controlled his life
the fact that you enjoyed his music so much and the effect that he had on you, you're lucky in that you've had that experience.
it is sad that he felt so alone in the world that he would even consider suicide, the brightside is that he left with an effect on people. and if you're going to go... well it's nice to know that people cared about you, listened to your music and felt something that was solely from the music that you made.
