[IC Information]
Character Name: Fai D. Flourite
Series: Tusbasa Reservoir Chronicles (too lazy to do the formatting)
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Species: Human, assumed
Sexuality: Ambiguous, mostly uninterested
Appearance: Fai is always smiling, always appearing carefree. And it's true, his appearance lends to this carefree look. With wide, bright blue eyes that always seem to be hiding something, and fair skin with an almost childish appearing face. He's always, always wearing a smile, even when it feels like he really shouldn't. And sometimes, if you stare long enough, you might wonder if he's actually smiling or if it's a mask. His wavy blond hair also seems to add to his innocent appearance.

Fai is tall and thin, looking more akin to a stick sometimes than a person. He has next to no muscle, and it's pretty obvious that he doesn't need it, when you get to see what a powerful magician he is. He's not completely useless, either, being able to keep up and on par with Syaoran and Kurogane, who are much more physical than he typically is.

As far as clothing goes, give Fai something very, very thick. Having grown up in icy climates, Fai tends to prefer thick and heavy clothing, designed to keep heat in. He doesn't even mind if it restricts movement, as movement is not what he needs to cast magic.
Personality: Always smiling, everything seems like it is a joke to Fai. He likes to use nicknames and silly gestures to frustrate Kuro-rin, and to make the other people around him happy. He disguises good advice and serious moments behind a happy expression and silly words, while still intending for the things he says to have a great impact. It's not to say that he can't be serious and solemn at all, it's just that he prefers not to.

This facade, of course, is due to great trauma that Fai has suffered in the past. For the longest time, he couldn't bring himself even to smile, because he felt he had nothing to smile for. It was thanks to the words of his teacher, Ashura, and of a little girl, that he began trying to smile, even if the smile meant nothing to him. It meant something to the people around him, and it healed their hearts where he couldn't, thanks to his inability to learn healing magic.

Fai, in reality, hates himself, and harbors unbearable guilt about the death of his twin brother. This guilt caused him to take his brother's name, as if to erase his own existence from the worlds. He wants nothing more than to try and bring his brother to life again, so that he can apologize for thinking of himself over everything else. It is unknown to Fai, however, that his memories have been tampered, and that his hate for himself is unwarranted.
Abilities: Fai's main ability lies in his strength as a magician. His power is pretty much unrivaled for the most part, and his strengths lie in magic that is desgined to kill.

As well, though Fai might not look it, he is an adapt fighter and is able to keep up with others that appear far stronger than him. His strength is in quick, fast movements, especially, when it comes to fighting as well.

He is also exceptionally perceptive to those around him, and tries to be encouraging through his silliness with varying levels of success.

Fai has, however, forgotten key elements in all of his spells that he knows, and will be unable to retain any new spells.
Weaknesses: Fai does not value his life very much at all. When in a fight, Fai will not fight to protect his own life unless someone that he cares for is in danger.

He also is averse to using magic, preferring not to without the tattoo that Ashura gave him, and it would take life threatening danger to make him really want to use it.

Fai also cannot, for the life of him, learn healing magic. This greatly upsets him, though he, once again, tried to hide it.

Fai's past, along with his brother, is also a source of great pain, and the entire reason he wears his smiling mask in the first place. He does not want anyone to know about it, at all.
Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider, oh yes.
History: Fai was not always Fai. Before Fai was born, his home in Valeria county was happily expecting the princess to give birth to a son. However, she gave birth to twins, Fai and Yuui, which was a bad omen in that county. The prince became sick, soon after, and died. Out of guilt and grief, the princess killed herself, unable to live with the fact that she had bore twins.

The king then gave the twins a choice. One could kill the other, or they would both be unhappy forever, in order to break the curse. Unable to think of killing each other, the twins chose the second option, and were imprisoned in a valley where time did not flow and magic was ineffective, Fai at the top in a tower, and Yuui in the bottom. They were told they would stay there until the end of the world. This place was where the dead bodies of sinners were thrown, instead of receiving a proper burial. Yuui tried to use their corpses to make a sort of laddet to climb to Fai, but never succeeded.

As time passed, the number of bodies began to grow in large increments, until one day the King threw himself down into the pit as well, committing suicide. He told Yuui that the death of everyone in Valeria county was their fault, and they would pay for their sins by being the only people alive there.

One day, they were approached by Fei Wong Reed, who offered them the chance to escape, but that only one would escape and the other would die. He first approached Yuui with this offer, and Yuui immediately offered to be the one to die. He also approached Fai, and Fai chose to save his brother. Therefore, Fai was thrown from the top of the tower to his doom, right before Yuui's eyes, when he had been expecting to be the one to die.

Reed then tampered with Yuui's memories, to make him believe he had chosen for Fai to die, and used Yuui's guilt as an excuse to place two curses on Yuui. One was wiped from his memory, and the other was to kill anyone who had stronger magical powers than himself. Later, Yuui was rescued by King Ashura, and when Ashura asked him for his name, he gave the name 'Fai', there-by erasing Yuui's existence. From there, Fai went to Celes county, where he found three feathers, as had been told to him by Reed. One he used to stop his brother's body from rotting, and the other he used to make a watcher in the image of his mother named Chi. The last one he kept for himself.

Ashura taught him much magic over time, though Fai could never seem to learn any sort of healing magic. Ashura then told him that his smile would heal just as powerfully as any magic. Ashura also placed a tattoo on Fai's back that would limit and weaken his magic as time went on. Fai also earned the name Fai D. Flourite, 'D' being the ranking given to the most powerful magician in Celes county, and Flourite being a precious mineral.

Much later, a monster becan terrorizing Celes county and killing many of the people there. Fai swore that he would destroy this monster-- until he realized that the monster was his master, Ashura. Unable to bring himself to kill Ashura, and blaming himself for how his master became, Fai placed a powerful sleeping spell on him, and fled Celes county to the Dimension Witch, where he met Syaoran, Sakura, and Kurogane.

Fai wished to never return to Celes county-- and for his price, he paid the tattoo that had been given to him by Ashura. And thus began his role as Fei Wong Reed's pawn, traveling with the princess as the magician had told him to. The group would work together to collect Sakura-hime's feathers, and Fai managed to have the very first one.

The group first noticed that they were being followed and interfered with in Jade Country, where they had to unwravel the mystery of the blond haired princess, and for the first time, they faced an actual villain in Doctor Kyle.

The next time they faced a powerful villain, in Outo Country, where they first met Seishirou, Syaoran's mentor and teacher. It was also in Outo Country that Kurogane originally offered to teach Syaoran how to use the sword, while he and Syaoran worked as Kiji hunters. This was where Kurogane received his sword, Souhi. However, Outo turned out to be a digital simulation, and it was revealed that Seishirou had the feather that they sought. However, he left, leaving an unfinished fight between himself and Kurogane, taking the feather with him.

In Lecourt country, Syaoran managed to discover Kurogane's horrifying past-- and Kurogane learned from him that he had seen that symbol on the sword that stabbed his mother on the clothes of the people who had attacked Clow Country shortly before he and Sakura-him and been forced to leave. Kurogane took note of this, and told him not to worry.

As they grew closer to finding the feather, Kurogane and Syaoran battled the monsters in the Main Library, where the feather was hidden. Kurogane noticed that something strange was happening to Syaoran who changed and brutally defeated the library guardians to get the feather back. He snapped back to normal, however, and so Kurogane pushed the worry aside for the moment, as they had greater problems.

Fai saved them all from being killed, using his magic though he had sworn he wouldn't anymore, giving Makona a window of opportunity to transport them to Shaara country, where Ashura-ou paid the price for them to escape from Clow Reed's hold, and effectively changed the entire future of Shaara country.

In Piffle county, to try and earn the feather that was offered as a prize for winning a race, as an unlimited battery, Fai, Kurogane, Syaoran, and Sakura entered, each to try and win the feather. Sakura-hime managed to win it, all on her own! And with a few lucky coincidences, of course. That night, they celebrated by drinking. And Fai is absolutely terrible at holding his liquor-- so he ended up passed out at some point in the night, and woke up in Manhattan.
First-person POV journal sample: Kuro-rin? Syaoran-kun? Sakura-chan? Mokona-chan??

Naaaaaa... I was left behind? That's so mean!

This is a strange county though. I hope they aren't far~. Who will keep Daddy in line without me??

Hm? What was that sound...? It didn't sound very good...!
Third-person POV rp sample: Fai didn't have to keep a smile on, per se, but the act was so far in place by then that it didn't really matter. He glanced around him, looking at the old buildings and some muddy water that was spread across the ground, and wore a picturesque confused look. He didn't think Mokona would take them to a different world while they were sleeping! Or at least, he hoped not. And then, he was very much alone. None of his traveling companions looked like they were anywhere near.

Ahh, and he really hadn't thought about this! Without Mokona, how was he supposed to be able to understand anyone? Or have them understand him? He could always draw Kuro-rin. That could possibly work if he needed to find someone, after all. And he smiled at that, having found a plan that would work if worse came to worse while he was all by himself! But first, he needed to find some paper and pencils...

Oh, and people! Couldn't show drawings of Kuro-rin to the trees, really. He doubted they'd say anything if they hadn't already... Then again, some of them could be really sneaky if they wanted.... But he'd think about that later. After all! He'd heard people a few moments before, though their voices were faded! So, where would he find paper in a place like this, hm?

Smile for the camera…
It's gonna be the best night ever.
