I think many more people need to read APC and Tool lyrics.
There is a ton of politics and spirituality and philosophy that Maynard puts into the lyrics. Hell, in some cases I am shocked that none of the OTO, A.A. or GD lodges have hits out on him.

I'm not much of a lyric-reader. I think music is good to listen to, I don't spend hours pondering deeper meanings in lyrics.

It's kinda like looking at a painting and only looking at the red paint in it. You're just not experiencing the cohesive whole work, yanno? I'd rather experience the totality than dissecting the smallish details most times.

No, by NOT reading the lyrics it's like looking at a painting from 20 feet away and missing the fact that the artist put dozens of hidden details that can only be seen when standing five feet away.

You can still enjoy the work but you miss the fact that the artiss DID have a deeper meaning.
