For work related purposes, I installed IE 7 on one of my computers tonight.

I apologized to it beforehand, i am apologizing to it now, and I will continue to apologize to it.

If you have not installed IE 7, do yourself a favor and use Netscape 4.75 instead. At least the layout of the menu items will be familiar.

If you have installed IE7, I am sorry.

I have to agree with you...

It's not worth the trouble. It doesn't handle cookies right, it changes the interface so completely that it took me, someone who's been using computers since 1980, ten minutes to find the option to put the menus up. Okay... ten minutes is an exaggeration, but still.

The only... and I mean ONLY advantage to using IE7 is you get more space in the browser window, if you have all the toolbars turned off and the menu hidden behind that special button.

If this is a preview of what's coming with Vista, I'll stick with OS X and Firefox.

Having the menu bars turned off by default is a BAD decision. I found it by accident, with the helpful suggestion that most of that funcitonality can be found in the new ever so confusing icons spaces randomly around the interface.

The whole point of cognitive learning is to not have otorelearn the same thing over and over again. It is why Windows has been such a screaming success - stupid people do not have to learn a new interface for every program. So why fuck with this one?

That bad eh? We were warned at work not to install it because our network admins "had not assessed its compatiblity with our system" which I took to mean "it sucks".

Your job has it right. Test forever, then decide.

And do not ever ever ever put it on your mac. Do not even have it in the same state as your mac.

Even the incompetents who run CU's system said to stay far, far away from it if at all possible.
