Problems with a 7+ foot pole:
  • It's 7+ foot.
  • Do you have any idea how hard it is to transport a 7+ foot pole in a Car?
  • Or through doors?
  • Or in an elevator?
  • It's gotta be bendy - but not too floppy
  • At lengths like that, very few materials will be sufficient.
  • Wood is one, but DO YOU KNOW HOW HEAVY 7 FEET OF WOODEN POLE IS?
  • The rules ask us to Please ( Read more... )

I was going to add to the post that "the first person to make a penis joke is going to be shot" but yours was very very classy.

See, the only problem with that is that I probably WOULD touch it with a 7 foot pole, even if it's to belt the crap out of it :P

...You could transport it by bus. I think buses are more than seven feet long? Surely? XD

then I'd have to transport everything *else* by bus too.
However, you've got a good point, Convention Centre is right next to the bus port...

I'M NOT GETTING THE BUS :P

you could make it in smaller sections that either screw together or are held together by a length of rope that you can pull tight.

I think the easiest would be screwing things together, and then you could have the decorations over lap the screw edges to hide the fact it can be disassembled.

If you use a rope, you'll have the problem of "wtf do i do with the length of rope that's outside the pole"...so i think disassembled screw together pieces would be much more viable.

That's basically my plan, I was going to make it with a screw section in the middle, like a fancy pool cue, shouldn't be too hard to hide either. Just depends on how I make it, really. I was thinking of doing it in 2 sections, they're going to be manageable at half the size just not so good for carrying around at FRIGGING HUGE.

Good idea :)

"Collapsable" != "Separable" imo
but yeah, it was probably around when you said it that I thought about making it as 2 separate bits so if it was because of you, thanks for the idea ;)
