Barking dogs

I really wish my fellow neighbors that think dogs are backyard necessities would realize how annoying it is for the rest of us to hear their dogs barking. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't late at night right after I start to drift into sweet slumber or early in the morning, BEFORE my alarm goes off. I'm really missing sleep. I couldn't sleep ( Read more... )

Gah, I know exactly what you're going through. Same thing happened to us for awile. The worst part was that the jerk who owned the dogs had a police scanner, so if you called the cops, they would immedietly bring the dogs in the house.

Do you have sound ordinance laws in your city/state? If so, you can call the cops on them. Especially if they're being noisy after 10:00.

Yeah, I don't understand this, "Children can go to bed whenever they feel like it!" attitude I see now. When I was a kid, I had bedtimes. They might be extended a bit in the summer, but never more than an hour or so. I was 16 when my parents told me they no longer would give me a bedtime, that I could decide for myself. But, that was given to me under the idea that should I abuse this newfound privilege, it would be taken away from me.

I should look into it, but I think there are noise ordinances in my city. However, I somehow doubt the police will do anything about it. I suppose I should try. I'm not sure how to complain about the entire street though. The police may think I'm overreacting. I'm also not looking forward to the noise as July 4 draws nearer. Last year they started playing with fireworks daily and nightly in the days before the 4th and even the entire week afterwards. This year I may just have to call the police to warn them about the neighbor's kids who are playing with dangerous fireworks. Especially since talking to the parents about it didn't work. They didn't seem to believe my husband about it. They did stop throwing stuff in our yard after he collected all the trash and went and knocked on her front door and handed it to her. I really need to become brave enough to talk to my neighbors myself. I don't feel like putting up with fireworks debris all over my house and yard this year. Maybe, just maybe, it could help.
