anyone who tells you not to spend time on something that you enjoy is dumb. do they only participate in activities that will help further their future career? i doubt it.

my cousin is a glass blowing hippie. hes not he richest, the poorest, or the happiest, but he's content.

i row too, and when you mentioned that thing about crew being meaningless it totally hit home. i row too (for a local team that shall remain anonymous), and when this spring season is over, i am not sure i will ever put a hand on a blade again. it is so much work, with recently very little gain. since you row for a very strong team and boat, your experiences and accomplishments in crew are very different than mine, but i can be happy doing a lot of things. you/i/we don't crew to be happy. there a lot of things that can make us happy in the real world.
