Sometimes you break a finger on the upper hand

So I've been dicking around with this game idea for months now, and while there's still some details that have yet to be figured out, I feel I have enough to bounce the idea off everyone.

So, let's get a few things out of the way. In a broad sense, the game is similar to Memento Eden. Characters wake up outside the convenient Starting City, no memories. Memories are tracked OOCly in percentages, with the reasoning being that characters can and are almost expected to regain everything, ideally within a year. Percentages give a tangible progress bar OOC.

There are three ways to regain memories. Exist, Events, Escapades. First, existing. Every two weeks in game, everyone receives 1%. Second, events, specifcally game-wide. Requirements and rewards change, but typically, participation gives memories. Game-wide are all but guaranteed, whereas player-run events may be rewarded as well. The third, escapades, is more or less the main part of the game.

Upon arrival, in a character's pocket is a small gem, known as an anemoi. Characters quickly learn that these gems are key to restoring memory, and there are reports that they are found outside the starting city. Naturally, there is a catch - wild creatures roam outside the city, with new creatures joining their ranks as time passes. Those who venture out would be wise to form a group in order to ensure survival. This is where the majority of interactions would come from, partying up and looting dungeons and whatnot.

A few things about this. Teleporters will be used as a means to give players whatever choice they want in climate. Mountainous areas? Caves? Fields? Snowy tundra? Sure, we can throw you there! Creatures are brought in from character's canons; for instance, if someone were to app Cloud Strife, random encounter enemies would be added to the wilds. Most importantly, there is a hands-off approach to the mod portion of this. I won't tell you where the gems are. I won't say how many there are. It's all up to you. If you want the group to find memories in X Location, run it by the group and get them to agree. If you want the venture to be a failure and find no memories, run it by the group and get them to agree. Similarly, I don't care how it's done, as long as it is done. Journals, logs, comments, prose, hell you can all physically get together, carve out miniatures and have a D&D session with it. As long as it gets done and good fun RP times are had, I am happy to see that it's happening.

For those who prefer the tl;dr version - It is a memory loss game where, for the most part, the regaining of memories is left in player hands, with the major focus being on venturing out with parties in order to regain memories.
