i am going to have to beg to differ on the following:
The Church of God she will not bend her knees to the gods of this world though they promise her peace She stands her ground, stands firm on the Rock Watch their walls tumble down when she lives out His love
it'd be great if that's actually what happens. but the church doesn't live out Christ's love, and never will be able to.
Well, how many walls in the world have you actually seen tumble lately?
Mullins was idealistic as all get-out, which is part of why I love his lyrics so much. The older he got in life, the more reflective and the more realistic he got (the line "It took the hand of God Almighty to part the waters of the sea/but it only took one little lie to separate you and me/We are not as strong as we think we are" kills me every time I hear it) but still, there is supposed to be poetry in the idealism.
That said: Yeah, we kind of suck at living up to that standard, don't we?
