One of worst ways of describing sex.... and it was plagiarized...

Okay... so I've been reading a lot of trashy 1980s early 1990s harlequin romances which often times use 'inventive' ways of describing sex. The following gem can be found in a novel called "A Lasting Kind of Love" by Catherine Spencer ( Read more... )

Nice catch! It's amazing how often people do that shit and think they can get away with it.

I got the following lame email from xlibris:

Thank you for your feedback on the book “Painful Pleasures “. Since the author owns the rights to her book, your email will then be forwarded to her for proper clarification. At her discretion, she should be able to get back to you through email.

I swear if it isn't down by next weekend, I'm emailing harlequin.

Quite honestly, I think I'd have mailed Harlequin right away after receiving such an idiotic reply. They're acting as if they have no responsibility in the matter and I'd really LOVE to see them get smacked down by HQ.

Plagiarising is stupid in and of itself, but to plagiarise something that is so distinctive (like "furled portals", which I've never heard before) is just idiotic.

Good of you to email and not let it slide.

Also, what the hell "hurting care"? Should I assume by this that the woman in question whose "furled portals" were stormed was a virgin until the storming?

So far the email response I got from xlibris is stupid - if the book stays up i'm going to email harlequin.

"hurting care" I assume is because the woman hadn't had sex for like 12 years.

Well, I suppose when you are plagiarizing an entire book you have to take the good with the bad. :P

I'm always amazed how writers can write sex scenes with so many euphemisms! But it's upsetting that it's been ripped word for word :(

Does she talk about his "throbbing manhood" too? That sentence is just beyond all reason. HAHAHA! And plagiarizing that!?! If the author couldn't come up with better on their own, maybe this isn't the career for them.
