Plagiarism Update

So Xlibris forwarded about my report about Donna Sturborne's "Painful Pleasures" being a plagiarized version of the harlequin romance "A Lasting Kind of Love" by Catherine Spencer to Donna and this was her reply to me:

I can't help but think it isn't really appropriate for her to reply to you directly... Surely the site should handle it?

Oh yeah, a most dodgy non-explanation, there. And I agree with humbuggirl, it's an uncomfortable presumption of her to reply to you directly about the complaint.

The sentence that was copied is far too distinct not to have come from the book. If this is true, on her side, then at the very least she got that particular sentence from "her friend" who got it from the book. But chances are, even if she hasn't read the book in question, she would know that the sentence came from another book - since who would tell their friend such a ridiculous sentence without also mentioning that "hey, if this is published, then you can publish too!" even if she didn't find out the title/forgotten it.
