We likewise have not fully discussed the option of me becoming C C R-V-W, too...

It's not like it would be the first time I changed my last name. :P

Only if I get my PhD...

Then I'd be Pope Rev. C C R-V-W, PhD. :P

One of my best friends changed her middle name to be her maiden name and took her husbands last night. Just a thought. :-)

Yeah, I have thought of that too. *sigh* It's such an ordeal.

My mom changed her last name but she used her maiden name as her middle name...odd since she never changed that part legally so any legal documents should have been void for that reason alone. Or not.

Hyphenate? Did I even spell that correctly?

Hyphenating would be really really long. Whitehead-XXXXXXX Too much to write.

There's also the good ol' alias. Keep your name professionally, but use Chad's personally, and put an alias on file so that it doesn't matter how you sign stuff. Plus, then you get to be cool and have an alias and stuff. Yeah.

How does that work?

I'm not entirely sure, I think you have to fill out another form or something when you change your name at the courthouse or wherever...
I had a coworker in IA that did that. Her legal last name included both her maiden and married names, but she had an alias so that she could sign stuff with just her married name because both last names were rather long.

honestly, i don't care... (i realize that sounds horrible, but i think you know what i mean)

i can see both sides of things...the desire to keep your own, as well as to take chad's... i say stick with your own, but ultimately it is up to you... tho the alias does sound like a very cool idea.

tho it'd be funny to see chad change his name... but if he does that i think we need to hold an LJ poll to see what he should change it to...

Ha ha ha.

There is another piece of me not wanting to give my grandfather the satisfaction of having a Dr. share his name, because he is a huge dick.
