On at least three occasions over the last week I've said "If I was the Prime Minister (which, thank fuck, I'm not) then what I'd do is..."

And, frankly, I am _really_ glad I'm not going to have to be the person that deals with this clusterfuck.

Yes, totally. Although we are all going to have to deal with some of the results of it - and I am really worried that the worst effects are going to fall on the people with the least resources to deal with it. So far the impact on me is less research funding and more worries about my pension, which is frustrating and disappointing but a completely different order of problem to racist street violence or deportation.

Thankfully I put most of the DC portion of my pension into Pacific Rim or other non-UK stocks. Which means they went up by about 5% in a big jump a couple of weeks ago.
