merry christmas to me.

i just ordered:

- 24" iMac 2.8ghz
- 4GB memory from crucial
- logitech g9 mouse

and im currently trying to decide on a good set of speakers. i think a nice 2.1 setup would do the job. anyone got any recommendations?

Nice one, mate. I'd go with the Bose Companion speakers. Stunning quality. Definitely worth the extra money.

i was considering those at first but after reading some reviews i dont know about the price vs. quality ratio. im not an audiophile by any means and while i can tell the difference between good speakers and shitty ones... im just not sure i can discern the difference between good speakers and better speakers.

What do you have to spend? I hear the Blue Sky EXO 2.1 setup is pretty great.

i dont really have a budget per se but spending more on speakers takes away from money spent on other peripherals. i still need a wacom tablet and im trying to decide on a new keyboard. but those are definitely pretty pricey for a 2.1 setup. which would be fine but i wont be doing any audio recording or anything and most of my music is encoded at 192 kbs so speakers that awesome might be wasted on me.
