:: She turned the silver and blue tea pot over in her hands. Everything was so much the same here, she could almost believe that everything that happened since she woke up wasn't real. Or a least everything that happened in the past few days. The demon had reconstructed the house perfectly, down to a stain on the rug from a food fight she had with ( Read more... )

"My, my... It seems quite a bit has happened to our little mouse while we weren't paying attention," Sariel comments lightly, standing in the doorway.

"Don't linger in doorways. It's rude. People could question your up-bringing." She smiles. "Come in."

"I had a perfectly typical upbringing for the son of a highly-ranked demon in Hell," Sariel replies, stepping inside with his usual casual grace. He steps closer to Aya-chan, lifting her chin lightly with one hand to look into her eyes for a briefly intense moment.

"The question is more how I turned out as well as I did. Mm... Didn't anyone ever tell you what a valuable commodity a soul is?"

She smiles playfully at him and leans into his touch. Until her mentions her soul.

She pulls away. "Don't."

"Did you expect me not to notice? I am a demon, dear Aya. Souls, corruption and damnation of, the. Personally, I always thought power was rather overdone, but if that's what you want enough to trade your immortal soul for, it's hardly my concern."

He shrugs, brushing his hair back over his shoulder. "It's merely academic interest, in any case. I'll still like you just the same. You're still our cute little mouse."

She didn't know for a certainty that she had lost her soul until confirmed it for her.

She hates the new nickname.

"Isn't corrupting an 'innocent' rather more difficult if the innocent in question doesn't have a soul?"

"I'd imagine it probably is. It's also besides the point, since we've always spent a certain amount of effort on NOT corrupting you overmuch. We're supposed to be retired, after all."

Plus, of course, Raziel is fond of her, which gives her a little extra edge.

She can't argue the point.

She feels like she just lost her soul the moment he told her of it's absence.

She reaches out to play with his hair.

"Do you have a soul?"

"We're the spawn of demons, of course we don't," Raz purrs in Aya's ear. He's suddenly just behind her, having moved in as silently and softly as if he were made of mist.

He's hardly worried about not having an invitation inside. After all, she invited Sariel in, and where one brother is, the other goes. That's just the way it goes.

"At least, that's what they say."

She jumps a little bit. The table in the main room bursts into flames, and quickly goes out before slightly-less-quickly becoming like new again.

She blushes.

"'That's what they say?' So you could have a soul."

Sariel, of course, is unruffled by both Raziel's appearance and the sudden flaming death of the table. He doesn't bother removing his hair from Aya's hand.

"Anything is possible, in theory," he tells her with quiet thoughtfulness. "There's certainly no denying that we're different. When has any demon ever born to Hell known love? But a soul... If ever a demon had a soul, it would be so different from the soul of a human that we wouldn't know it even if we saw it."

She lets go of Sariel's hair with a sigh. Two people fair less able to identify the signs of lust could recognize why she was stepping away from them and sitting down on the unfortunate table.

"That's what I thought. Something you wouldn't be able to see just from looking deeply into my eyes."

"We just call them like we see them," Raziel comments, shrugging casually. He smiles at her, with just a slight teasing glint in his eyes. "Sorry about sneaking up on you like that. Old habits die hard."

"You didn't do anything to be sorry for. I just needed some spaces." The blush shows that she knows that they know exactly why she need the space.

"You both love each other very much, don't you?"

This lifted eyebrow shows that Sariel is rather amused by the blush.

"Of course. Raziel is the single most important thing in my life."

"That makes some things a great deal easier doesn't it?"

She smiles. A small surprised smile at first, but it grows bigger.

"My brother is the most important thing in my life too, although not in quite the same way.

"Ginta is close to the most important thing." She nods her head to her room where the wolf demon is sleep (on a separate futon).
