After the Sun Sets, Before the Night Falls
There is an epidemic in this country.
The outbreak occurred a few years ago
and has spread exponentially
with no end in sight.
Patient Zero was an author
of no significance or extraordinary talent.
She has since become infamous.
The disease affects young girls and middle aged women.
The symptoms are subtle at first - but the signs are there:
lower lip mastication and an inclination towards glitter.
As the disease progresses and further infects the brain,
the women avoid sunlight, and suffer from fits
of shrieking and squealing at the sight of exposed skin.
In the final stages, they become completely detached
from reality, obsessed
with the notion that their blood
is tasty
and wanted.
There is no known cure.
There are few of us left uninfected.
There is an epidemic in this country.
