((THNMY'd to a couple of weeks after the rescue.))

It had been a crack-headed idea, but Ginta seemed willing enough. She rented a cabin in the U.S. she had seen on the Internet. The area was supposed to be remote. The ad promised a quiet getaway. Maybe that's why Ginta had agree so readily. Maybe they both needed to get away.

Once they'd stepped out on the trail, Ginta breathed deeply. Sure, it wasn't much different from the air quality of his own time, but it was refreshing to encounter it in Aya's world. That, and the place had a scent that seemed unique since the plants and were different from a lot of the ones he encountered in Japan.

He was a little quiet as they approached, just taking the scenery in, but he piped up once they were in viewing range of the cabin. "Is that the one?"

Aya smiles since it the only cabin nearby. She leans on his arm.

"Yes. Do you like it?"

"I do. It looks cozy." He reaches out to hold her hand, lacing his fingers with hers as they approach. "And the house itself smells like trees, which is nice."

He catches a whiff of something as they walk by the latticed underside of the house on their way to the closest door. "Hm, looks like we might be sharing with someone. I think I smell a racoon under there."

"Your super-senses never stop being cool. I'll leave some peanuts out for it on the lawn later."

So opens the door and is pleased to see that the inside of cabin looks fairly modern. There are wide, deep-set book shelves and a braided rug in front of the fireplace.

"Do you think you would want to live in a place that smells like trees?"

Ginta picks up the large lighter hanging on a peg beside the mouth of the fireplace and lays the monkey corpse on top of the letters. He tries clicking the lighter on... only to have it spark and sputter. It'd not that it's busted or out of fluid, he just doesn't have the timing down for holding one button while pushing another to in order to get the desired results. He glares at the lighter, shaking it before trying again a few times with the same amount of luck.

Aya puts her hands over Ginta's and ignites the lighter. She brings the lighter down to the letters. The fire spreads quickly across the papers. Too quickly. Strange, acrid smoke comes from the fireplace.

Aya coughs. She reaches out for Ginta's hand. They should get outside.

Ginta covers his mouth with the hand not holding Aya's and scurries for the nearest exit. He doesn't stop until they're a good hundred feet away from the cabin.

Smoke starts billowing out of the door they left open, the windows, any open crevice the house seems to have. It doesn't seem logical for this much smoke to be there. It's also gathering in a funny pattern, collecting above the house rather than blowing away in the wind. It's forming something. When no more smoke is coming from the cabin it becomes clear that the cloud has taken the shape of a gigantic monkey's head. The smoke formation seems to glower at nothing in particular before starting to dissapate.

"Um..." Ginta feels like he should say something about what just happened, but he's stricken slightly dumb in his startlement.

Aya stays silent for several moments. When wrath doesn't seem to be raining down from above, she taps her foot impatiently.

"Lets get a suite a nice hotel. Even with the cancellation fee, it will probably be the same as the cost of the cabin."
