I hadn't seen the snake thing before... that's kind of freaky, but I think at this point little I hear about what various strange sects of organized religions do surprises me.
I'd read the ACLU brief on the girl being strip-searched by the school. I can't really comprehend how the officials thought that would be okay. What bothers me more than that though is that 5 of the 11 judges on the appeals case didn't see anything wrong with it.
I dunno man. Over Ibuprofen? Jesus. I remember in high school that it was "illegal" to carry pain killers like that and I do remember them sending dogs into classrooms to find it, but they never went so far as to strip search us. I mean did they really think she'd hide advil in her panties?
Yeah... that's what baffles me. I have no idea why 5 judges thought that such a search was reasonable.
And seriously... who cares? It's ibuprofen. They even said that that's what they were searching for. Why? It's not illegal to carry. Maybe she got migranes.
I got bad headaches for a while in high school. I used to carry around asprin. I wonder if that would merit a strip search too.
Who knows? This craziness is scaring me a little bit. I worry that it will get worse and worse. What surprises me more is that as a society that depends on pain medication for the tiniest of things, these judges would rule this acceptable.
