I'd still like to be able to make three icons. It's not that hard to vote. I don't understand why it's such a problem for people because if you're going to be in a challenge you should make it one by voting or other wise there's no sense in even entering.
I'd also like to ask why no animations are allowed?
The trend in a lot of communities is moving towards still icons only. I don't really understand why that's often a restriction.
To help with your issue of having too many entries, what if you used the same photos and theme, but allowed an icon maker to enter 2 still icons and 1 animation?
This way you're still accomplishing a reduction in the number of still icons, but opening up another option for some of your participants. This also might satisfy those who still want to make three.
It's your community and you do what you see fit, and you've got a great group of icon makers gathered here, but maybe this is a suggestion you could try for a challenge or two and see how it goes?
Also want to say that I'm a little bit afraid of animation :x. I don't know why. Maybe because of the banners (I've never worked with ImageReady). It's a really difficult question. But I really think we can try :)
It's understandable. If you're not familiar with the animation programs, they can be intimidating, especially when your still banners are so gorgeous.
If you're nervous about making the banners, I'd be happy to help by making the banner for just the animation winners. I'll do some sample banner-type graphics with my own animated icons this weekend and see how they turn out.
I think reducing the number of icons per iconmaker is not a bad idea. But if you do that, I suggest also reducing the number of images you give us to play with. That would make both the creating and the voting easier.
There are a lot of icons and they're all great,so it's quite difficult to choose. However,I think that the only problem could be the tie:more icons for the same place. If that's the problem you could use a system that gives,I don't know,3 points to the first place,2 to the second and 1 to the third. I've seen that many comunities use this system.
It's pretty good idea. But I'm afraid that ties will be in any case(( Cause some people like one and some people like the other. I will think about it. Thank you!
