Caitlin Crosby Concert Update! :)

Mar 02, 2010 18:04

It's been forever since I posted. Or maybe it just feels that way. I come forth with details of Saturday, February 27, 2010. that was the night we got to see CAITLIN FREAKING CROSBY in concert.

Well, driving to New Orleans was fun. Fun until the GPS decided to get us semi-lost for 5 minutes. (HOLY CRAP. That was scary.)We made it there alive, at least. So at about noon we got there, got Starbucks, and went find the venue. Turns out its a really creepy looking bar. But the inside is niiiice. It's really chill. Anyway, we were looking for Caitlin. We figured she was going to be dressed in leggings, boots, a big coat, and her hair up. No sign of her. Booooo. :( So we just walked around until about 3. Then we went eat at the Hardrock Cafe. then we went to CC's coffee. (I really don't know what was wrong with me that day. I couldn't even finish a grande coffee. I think I was just so excited.) Ericka & i must have walked back to that bar like, 8 times to look for Caitlin. We pretty much gave up and went walk the French Market & Canal Street. These street dancer guys were giving a show. We, being tourists in our own state, sat down to watch this show. SO COOL, YOU GUYS.
By the time they were finished, it was getting dark. At about 7, Ericka & I went walk to Bourbon Street. (Crazy disturbing during the day and at night. It's actually the craziest street in NOLA. But at the same time, it is the safest. There were so many cops down there...as well as women with penis tiaras. Bridal party thing, me thinks. ANYWAY. we walked up and down like, once. there were women half naked swinging in the windows. When I say crazy, I MEAN CRAZY. So we're on our way to the bar when we see this woman running down the street with leggings, boots, a big coat, and her hair in a bun. I about spazzed. Here's how it went down...

Me: ERICKA. Oh my gosh that looks like her!
Ericka: You know it could be. But she wouldn't be walking by herself...
woman starts running faster. We kind of jog...or run. whatever. She runs up to the guy and hugs him. She started talking to him. We're in earshot and stop dead in our tracks.
both of us: OHMYGODCAITLINCROSBY!!!! *stupid looks on our faces*
Caitlin: Hi! Ohmygosh! Are you my twitter friends!?!?
both of us: Yeah!! *commence flail*

So Caitlin gave us big hugs and introduced us to her very cute friends. She took us to her van and was just talking to us. Then she saw our shirts. She all but cried. She kept on saying, "I have to take a million pictures of your shirts!!" After all that flailing on the inside, she took us into the bar. (The manager didn't even I.D. us until we went into the music hall. haha She offered to sneak us in at one point.) She went walk the French Quarter with her friends while Ericka and I sat in the bar. Whilst minding our own business, this old lady came up to us and asked us all kinds of questions about why we liked Caitlin so much. Turns out this lady flew all the way from Miami to see Jason Castro. He cancelled but she decided she was going to come anyway. She kept going on and on AND ON about her Jason Castro fansite and how she was a member of the Castro Yats. Then she gave me and Ericka a Castro Yats bracelet. Also? She had Jason's face on a stick. (I tweeted about it and it ended up on the message boards....Stalkers.) So the security people let us in and we ran to the stage thinking that the music hall would fill up. Not. There were 24, YES, TWENTY-FOUR, people in that room. And where were me and Ericka? The only two sitting on the floor directly in front of where Caitlin wold perform. So we're sitting and that crazy Castro freak lady (did I mention she was like, 60??) came talk to us about American Idol. The girls sitting against the wall were trying to save us from her. haha Finally, Caitlin came on stage!! :D She introduced herself and all that fun stuff. Then she told everyone they were invited to come sit indian style with us on the floor. No one did. (which isn't alltogether a bad thing. WE HAD THE FLOOR TO OURSELVES!!) Goodness, that was amazing. She explained about her Flawz movement and website, etc. Then for her last song, she played "Imperfect is the New Perfect" and dedicated it to me & Ericka. (!!!!!) NGL, that was such a great moment in my life. Probably one of the best! (PROBABLY? What's my problem? DEFINITELY one of the best!) anywho, after her set, Caitlin told us that she wanted to have a photoshoot with our shirts and stuff. So we waited for most of the merch line to go down to go up and talk to her. She kind of stole my sharpie. But its okay. :) She took us to the back of the bar after she finished talking to the other like, 5 people in line. We took pictures and talked fo a little while. It was too loud so she took us outside of the music hall and into the bar to talk about school and stuff. (AND HOW SHE RECOGNIZED US FROM TWITTER OHMYGAWD.)Then she took us outside of the bar to make a video for her parents explaining what our shirts said. After, we went back inside and watched Matt's set. She took us outside again after his set. She took a picture of us to put on her Twitter. The whole process was really fun! Talking to Caitlin was a great experience. She's such a ginuinely sweet, funny, and hyper person. Like, I love her even more now. She almost started crying when she was explaining why she does what she does. Caitlin Crosby is such an inspiration to me. The whole seeing her in concert thing was a dream come true...and then some.

I have pictures on my myspace and facebook. Feel free to add me to either! :) and follow me on twitter, too!
