I'm off to the book fair to-day. Should be fun/depressing since I'll of course find way more than I can afford. It's too bad I missed Frank McCourt and Barack Obama. damn homework/other plans.

Anyhoo, yesterday my aunt saw me having way too much fun with her digital camera so she said she'd get one for me for christmas/my 18th birthday/ graduation ( Read more... )

I miss the Miami Book Fair. The closest we get to that is a Friends of the Library Sale every semester and awesome speakers scattered throughout. And a really good writers conference.

I do this thing now from paperbackswap.com where I swap my used books for other peoples. I've gotten about 15 books so far- of course, I've only had time to read about half that amount.

I want to get a nice thin camera by the time I do Semester at Sea because although I like my big clunky one, I'd rather have something I could fit into my pocket or travel belt. So I'd tell you size matters.

i dunno it depends where you want to go for the camera. id reccomend circuit city just because they have a good selection. i have a nikon and im in love with them but some prefer canons but if you want, ill go with you one day and help you pick one out or something. =D

for a digital camera...point-and-shoot:
i would say Canon SD 600. (which my mom bought)
it's 5 or 6 mega pixel (the highest you'll need),
a nice screen,
and viewfinder (good for sunny days).
plus it's small
good battery
nice price ($249).

i have a Casio; it's cool and all, but it doesn't have a viewfinder; and it's kinda hard to use for purpose of artsy photos.

i work at Wolf Camera...we have large selection; and if you'd want we have this damage protection program, which you can get 1-5 years. It costs some money, but it's worth it because if anything (except for theft, lost, and occasionally fire) happens- you drop it, scratch it, etc.- it's free to be replaced or fixed.
so the camera's $249 for a year it's like, $32 or $48 (don't remember) for the protection program and within that one year you can drop it, break it, submerge it as much as you want and it will be fixed each time...so it's like get a new camera for $32.

there's a real cheap Nikon for $119.

it all depends in what you're looking for in the camera.
