There's nothing wrong with Muscle Memory in the right doses ... Guitar Hero seems more akin to Dance Dance Revolution, with Muscle Memory being the whole point and a worthy point. Why should a game be entirely about wracking the brain? One could argue that "real" dancing and "real" guitaring has some value that video games do not, but that's a different argument.
WoW I can see your point a bit more, but I think there's a way to play that game without being an addict or being completely braindead ( The Strategy of WoW playership :P ). I think it's more worthy of your scorn but also a more complicated idea. Diablo, on the other hand...
DDR I can respect because at least it is exercise... but Guitar Hero? It's a dead-end skill. And, yes, I was going to argue "that "real" dancing and "real" guitaring has some value that video games do not" if that point came up :P
