Oh, dear. When did the pastor resign? Have you been in the call process for the past three years? Cause that is kind of like having a kidney stone for three years...
I can imagine how much your input and work has made a difference, and I'm sorry that you aren't able to be at the helm for the last steps, not only because it would probably be less stressful for you but because I'm sure it would be good for the congregation too. You're so wise and sane that you'd be good for any church process.
And speaking as someone saddled with student loan debt, I think you and Luke are being really smart. Higher education *is* great, but it doesn't make sense not to consider how much you have to pay back!
Our pastor resigned not quite a couple of weeks ago--but we have been in the midst of the Natural Church Development program for nearly three years now. I was on the original "Vision Team," but had to drop after a year when the library building project kicked into high gear. In the meantime, I was a congregational officer until my back-to-back terms were up last January

Oh wow *hugs* on the higher education gig. He could always look into being an international student over here... just saying. It's way cheaper, as far as I know (Sally's thinking about moving here next year for Uni). I agree with Kit that you're doing what's smart. Where's he working?
