I absolutely love this. It is now part of my Post-108 headcanon, and I feel so bad for the little kitsune, and Ed.

Yeah, poor Ed is gonna have it a bit rough first time he sees his own kid again, but he'll have DonkeyKong & LionKing's campany back soon and he'll get over it eventually.

It took some time deciding which animal too cross the poor kid with (not that it's much relevant), because all we have to go on for the West is: rocky and dry - so first I was thinking jackal. But then we don't know much about Creta either (except possible Greek influence and logically 'dry and rocky' but with tough grasses or some such.) So then I figured: just take something that is/was common in all of Europe - bingo, the red fox.

Yeah, seriously. I love this that much. (BUT IT'S GOT ANGST AND A FOX AND AND AND.)

A jackal would've been cool, too; or a Wild Dog. I have an affinity for foxes, but any of the wild dogs would've been appropriate to get my attention.

^//^ Thank you! I was a bit hesitant that I'd get the right emotion across in such a small piece, but I guess it was okay in the end.

Gotta love those 'what if's, right? Al & Ed were just so very optimistic about their next master plan, but I don't think it'll be a quick process. Yup, lil fox guy was doomed: even if Ed had already had a reverse circle option, he still wouldn't have been to get the poor critter to Al in time (who is, in my head timeline, either in Xing or even further east.) It's one of those 'no alchemical quick-fix really sucks sometimes, when it matters' moments. ^^
