Burned cookies

How comes that when the recipe says 15 minutes at 200 degrees my cookies are burned to crisp approaching charcoal within 10 minutes ( Read more... )

Maybe they mean Celsius rather than Fahrenheit? Or vice-versa? (I'm really terrible at conversions). If it's Fahrenheit, I'd check your oven temperature, because nothing should burn like that after only 15 minutes at 200 degrees. You can get an oven thermometer and use it to check that your oven is calibrated correctly...

I checked and I really does say 200 Celsius, which is what I assumed since it's a German recipe and I'm in Germany. But thanks for the tip with the oven thermometer. I'll see if I can get or borrow one after Christmas.

It seems to me that for the last six weeks or so every time I called my sister told me how she was just baking cookies. Made me want to try, but this just shows I'm no use in the kitchen and better off eating other people's cookies. :)
