An English professor wrote the following words on the chalkboard and asked his students to punctuate it correctly.
" A woman without her man is nothing "
All of the males in the class wrote :
" A woman , without her man , is nothing ."
All the females in the class wrote:
" A woman : Without her , man is nothing ." (с)

С первого прочтения расставила как мужчины.
Со второго - увидела "женский" вариант.

Думаю, это ещё связано с тем, что второй вариант по-русски сделан, а не по-анлийски (в смысле структуры предложения).
