Ghetto girl or hillbilly cousin for a daughter in law?

Well, one of my biggest fears regarding my son was his choice in girlfriends. I've mentioned her before a while ago. Whether wrong or right I just didn't want someone that's too streetwise, too loud and brash like women you see on Jerry Springer. Now I'm ending up with a hillbilly cousin for a daughter in law. Well, if he decides to marry her ( Read more... )

Heehee. Well, if it's any consolation, everyone up here is related...well, mostly. In fact my nephew Eddie--who was adopted by my aunt is now my nephew, first cousin and sixth cousin (his parents were distant cousins too) Uhm...yeah. Hillbilly up in the north! Woot!

Lol. Yeah, that helps really. I guess it's a small world. Better relatives than crazies maybe that's what I should've said.

This is why I like the fact that most of my ancestors didn't arrive in this country until about 1910. We know every American relation, and it's not many.

At least she's so distant a relation that it shouldn't matter on a genetic level. I mean, she's several several generations removed, so it's not like dating a first cousin, or even a third cousin. I don't know if that's comforting at all...but I thought I'd throw that out there.

That's true. It's something I should've considered actually. Thanks. Apparently it happens a lot I'm seeing.

... Yea.. Thanks to my grandmother, I know every branch of relations in my family... hence my having stayed away from all Pardues', Murphys', Lowerys', Harts', and Monks'. ..I think it helps to know that my fiance is a Wirstrom.. lol, No Irish or Scottish (or even English for that matter) in his family tree. There are only 15 Wirstrom's in the US alone.

But I understand the slight pause. In Louisiana it's fairly common to find everyone in the family related... even in a first cousin sense. I'm glad my grandmother taught both my mother and myself to do something different with our lives, or I probably would have ended up the same way. -Shivers-
