We had tried elements of this earlier but I wasn't ready and neither were the girls. We started this about 2 weeks ago, so the girls were 10 months old

Oh boo! I am doing pretty much this and it's working great for going to sleep at night (we are working on nap time). The problem is night wakings. When she wakes at night I have to pick her up to change her diaper. Then I nurse just to quiet the cries, and put her down still awake. And she screams bloody murder for 5-10 minutes before going to sleep. I can't figure out how to encourage sleeping THROUGH the night.
Do you have to change her nappy? Is she soaking through, pooping or do you just think you need to? I'm wondering if maybe the nappy change is waking her up fully. My Rebecca mainly wakes up a bit at night, but I've tried picking her up and it only seems to make it worse. She seems to just need to fuss a bit. But I've made a commitment not to night nurse any more, so I don't. I suspect their wouldn't be any milk at that part of the night anyway.
Does she wake up at the same time every night? If so, I've heard good things about waking the child up an hour before that and then putting them down again. Haven't tried that yet, but might as R seems to wake up (if she does) at 10 and then 3.
