Title: When You Can't Let Go..
Pairing: Kyuhyun/Sooyoung
A/N: Based on the lyrics of Kyuhyun's Love Again
I thought this was the end of my memory, the faces I’ll never see again pass me by.
Kyuhyun packed his bags. His already swollen eyes becoming wet again. The bedroom he's been staying in for 17 years of his life was now almost empty. There were visible white patches on the blue walls, as a result of pulling down the posters. He was gonna leave everything behind. There would be no more Teuki hyung to vent out his problems to. There would be no more Siwon hyung to push him into going to church. There would no more Donghae hyung to act as a big brother. Without Sungmin, there would be no best friend. Without her, there would be no him.
I stood at the end where I couldn’t do anything, I put my hands together and just prayed.
He stood by the door, running his fingers against the oak door and smooth doorknob. When his parents broke the news to him, he was pretty certain there would be a way slither out of it. He didn't expect them to be serious. He took a deep breath, his hands wiping the tears that were collected at the brim of his eyes. The car was being loaded downstairs. Everyone was there. Everyone except someone.
So I could show you my heart, that still hasn’t done everything.
He walked down the stairs, flinging his navy backpack on one shoulder. From the outside, people would have thought he was calm. His pale face was blank, his hands casually running through his tousled brown hair. Only a few people could see through the lies and notice how he was using every ounce of strength he had to keep the tears from flowing down. And they were the first people to come running from the side of the lawn to hug him. Donghae was already crying. On any normal occasion, Kyuhyun would be asking him to man up and be strong. Not today. Teukie, Siwon and Sungmin were by his side, holding onto him. "Where is she?" he asked, scanning the lawn. "She's not here, but you know where to find her." Sungmin told him, patting his back reassuringly. "Hurry up and go find her."
Get up again, I want to see you who has waited for me.
He took off his shoes and held it by its laces. It would be easier to climb up the wet steps leading to the hilltop barefoot. Once at the top, he put his shoes on a patch of grass next to a pair of familiar black Toms flats. There she was, directly across him, sitting by the edge of the hill, staring ahead into the blue ocean. He sat next to her, still using all his strength to keep himself from falling apart. "You really didn't wanna say bye?" "I can't." He looked at her, taking in all her features. Her huge doe eyes, high cheekbones, porcelain clear skin and silky brown hair up to the middle of her neck. His finger slowly brushed a single tear falling down her cheek. She turned to look at him when he suddenly got up, brushing the dirt of his hands. “Stand up” he said, holding her hands to pull her up. When she did, he placed her arms around his neck and wrapped his around her waist.
Go back again, I want to say “I love you”.
“You’re never coming back.” she said, her voice almost a whisper. His furrowed his eyebrows together, his eyes slowly becoming red. She hugged him, never wanting to let go. They stayed like that for a while, locked in each others’ embrace. He leaned in and kissed her, their lips lightly moving against each other. One last time. “I love you.” he told her, giving her his usual melting gaze, using his thumbs to draw circles on the small of her back. Sooyoung nodded, squeezing her eyes shut to drown out the tears. She didn’t want to crumble around him. “Me too.” she said looking up at him. She smiled when he leaned forward to kiss her forehead. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. “Come on, your flights gonna leave soon” she said running her fingers through his hair. He took her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers -one last time- and they left the clift together - for the very last time.
