That anti-gay stuff comes from the fact that you were in SOUTH CAROLINA. That has to be THE most backward state in the Union, and I can say that because I live there;) Did you happen to see the Seventh Day Adventist signs ("Sunday is the day of the Beast"..or something)? Other things, too...Greenville County STILL doesn't recognize MLK, Jr. Day as a holiday, you're not legally allowed to get a tatoo in the state, which means Myrtle Beach is full of unregulated undergroud tatoo parlours, and it's the last state to still require bars to use a full mini bottle when mixing drinks--causing a higher alcohol content and one of the highest rates of intoxicated driving in the country.

And that is my preaching;) Why oh why can't a great place like Furman be in a state with more modern views??

Actually the anti gay billboard was a seventh billboard. all of those are very good points... I can't believe they don't recognize mlk day. They may be devoid of modern views... but I still love Charleston. such a great place. hehe
