If asked, Gabriel would say that rain was his favourite sort of weather; besides snow that is. There was just something about it that made him smile; it felt nice for one, and in a way, it would wash away the filth accumulated from the last time it rain, and it would clean the Earth. There was that, and then there was the fact that it gave him a perfectly good excuse to spend his time indoors rather than out, and really, there was nothing like sitting down with a good book and letting the rain tap against the window as one sipped a cup of tea. Tea, now that was another British stereotype, just like the rain ( ... )

By the time she'd wiped the water from her eyes, half the shop's patrons were looking at her and the other half was turning to see what the fuss was about. Lucy clamped down hard on the sudden instinct to bolt and run. This was America; more than likely she wouldn't be recognized by the common man off the street. She'd always played the part of a properly demure political wife and let Harry--the Master--Harry have the spotlight. And besides... she looked like a drowned rat right now and she knew it. The Prime Minister's wife never looked like a drowned rat.

She tried to slough some of the rainwater off her feet onto the mat in front of the door, and only then realized that someone was trying to get her attention. One of the customers. Lucy's eyes darted to the counter, where the baristas had gone back to work--for the time being. Then she looked back at the man who'd waved at her.

"I didn't have an umbrella," she said, latching on to the first thing that came to mind.
