Wholehearted support. "People are complex" is pretty much it, and the whole "mysterious women" thing pisses me off no end.

Yeah, failures to understand "women" seem to stem from a combination of two things:

1) Assuming that women are TOTALLY DIFFERENT from men, and thus knowledge about how men think is COMPLETELY USELESS for determining what a given woman might be thinking.

2) Assuming ALL WOMEN ARE THE SAME and thus when several women are observed behaving in a certain way it is then assumed that ALL WOMEN will react that way leading to utter bafflement and accusations of irrationality when a given individual women reacts in a different way.

People are complicated but generally internally consistent. If someone is behaving in a way that seems nonsensical to you, it's probably because you're missing information or experiences that they have.

The flip side of this "women are incomprehensible" nonsense is "men are simple", which in its own way is also dehumanizing and denigrating. Patriarchy sucks for pretty much everyone, including the people who are supposed to benefit from it.
