Everyone who ever told me the ending ruined everything, and that it was the most idiotic thing ever? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? IT WAS GORGEOUS.
HEAR HEAR. I think most of the people that hated the end were just so staunchly against the religious implications that they just shut down and decided it was awful just because of that. Which... I'm not religious by nature either (I think that this point, I'm considered a 'fallen Catholic'), but I thought it was beautiful. And such a great explanation.
Which I actually predicted in first season, LOL, but that's beside the point. The execution of that finale was practically flawless. I think it's the best series finale I've ever been witness to. And JJ Abrams totally redeemed himself for the way he monumentally screwed up Alias.
But it wasn't forwardly religious. I'm not a religious person in the slightest, and I still saw the references way back in season five. It totally didn't turn me off. In fact, I thought it was kind of cool. But it didn't have to be religious references. They never outright said it, it could have just been pure good vs evil. And afterlife. When Jack askedh is father "Where are we going?" And he said "Lets find out" (or something like that...) they never mentioned anything outright. It was just how the viewer interpreted it. or.. yeah. You get my point?
And it was beautiful. It brought the entire series to a complete end. What else did they want? Some crazy cliffhanger that would leave everything wanting more? This is probably the first series I've ever seen that truly just ended it, and left hardly any room for it to continue on in some way, or left you saying "WHAT? NO. I WANT MORE. HOW COULD YOU END IT THAT WAY?" Its just... done. I thought it was perfect
