Eeek. I hate when horrible stuff like that happens. It's just so sad. However, I'm a newspaper journalist, so when stuff like that happens in our area it sure makes work interesting. On Tuesday a guy died after getting struck by lightning up here. FREA-ky.
The 'it-could-have-happened-to-me/here' thing is kinda scary.
I just feel really bad for the kids I work with...they've already had so much in their lives go wrong, to have their friends shot and stuff... I never had friends die of a gunshot wound... but it's the life they live sometimes, with gang affiliations and what not...eh. It's weird it affects me so much, since I want to study violence and homicide...
It's weird knowing that I'll always be surrounded by violence, because that's what I want to study. I wonder if I should be proactive and get a therapist now, before they require them in clinical...hmm.

Sounds like that's a good thing though, in a way? Like, you'll be more empathetic or something? You could think of it as a positive.
It does suck when bad things happen to people who've already had a rough ride.
