The thing is, I'm so inured by the clumsy shady not-even-ashamed behavior of my government that I find it hard to be shocked by the US. The fact that they still can, in fact, shock me, is amazing.

And kudos to you! I too hope to go into law, specifically international law. *slaps five* Fellow future-lawyer!

Are you in university right now? Because I know that you can't study law as a undergraduate course in the USA...you have to take something else first, right? What are you taking? (Or are you still in high school?) Haha, I've got so many questions because I'm so excited to have found someone else planning to take law!

Have you done any work experience? Actually, I'm going to be working with a top barrister in Hong Kong (er...I *think* they're called attorneys over in the USA) for one or two weeks starting tomorrow. ^_^ I thought I would be mostly doing secretary work - you know, typing up files, stapling stuff together...but he said that he's actually going to show me some of the cases he's handling and teach me how to draft some legal documents! Whee! I can't wait. ^__^

No, honestly, I think that's a good thing to go for. There are many ways of leaving your mark on the world in some way- immortality, really, as the Greeks unashamedly knew it :D. Immortality through your descendants or through your deeds. (Both if possible.) And one way is to help others. Because they're human, and worth it. As all humans are.

So yeah. Good choice. Be proactive, forge on ahead and change the world we know through your career, one case at a time. You can do it :D. (I'll just sit here and be secretly subversive through my writing, changing the world from the inside out instead. And one day I'll write your biography, how about that?)

I AGREE!!! some people are just such cruel, clueless idiots, that i have no idea why they were elected to a public position with power! we teens can be more selfless than adults give us credit for, but whatever. i'd like to be in the UN too, but as a delegate on world issues, or maybe a translator of japanese there!
