Makeup tutorial 2.0

Jan 06, 2010 20:57

Yo, people.

So, the makeup tutorial I promised? I made it...

...And deleted it.

So let's try again, ok?

Makeup 2.0

Ok. The makeup I'm going to be showing you today is what I consider staple classic loli makeup, although it's very appropriate for other styles and situations as well. Before we begin, I'd just like to say that this makeup is the one I use, which looks good on me. There's a possibility that it might not suit you. It's really generic makeup, though, so I wouldn't worry too much!
Also, this makeup is pretty thick, so I wouldn't advise you to wear it all day.

With that, let's start!

You Need:
For this look, you'll need:
  • Moisturizer
  • Concealer
  • Foundation
  • Face Powder
  • Light brown eyeshadow
  • Dark brown eyeshadow
  • White/Cream eyeshadow
  • Dark eyeliner
  • White/Cream eyeliner OR white/cream concealing pencil
  • Face Powder - Darker than your natural skintone OR bronzer powder
  • Pink Blush
  • Light pink lipstick or lipgloss
  • Makeup applicators or brushes
Hm, it seems like a lot when written down.

OK! I'm going to be starting from the absolute basics here.

Preparation: (If you already know how to prepare your face for makeup and apply foundation, skip to Eye Makeup.)

Step 1: Wash your face. Easy-peasy!

Clean face, no makeup. (Forgive my hair floofs, it was 2AM when I took these pics.)

Step 2: Apply Moisturizer

I'm just using plain ol' Nivea Cream.

Base:

Step 1: Apply Concealer

I use it under my eyes, (Panda, BEGONE!) on some scattered freckles, on minor blemishes or scars, and on mosquito bites, if I happen to have any on my face. I don't usually cover up the beauty spot on my cheek, because it takes forever.
The type of concealer I use islike a lipstick you spead on your face and blend into your skin. I know there are virtually thousands of different kinds of concealer, so use what you feel most comfortable with.

Step 2: Apply Foundation

(I'll warn you, my foundation is the wrong color for my skin. Dad got the wrong one. -_-; )
The foundation goes all over your face, except on your lips or on your eyelids. Remember to put it over your concealer and under your chin.
Blend the foundation into your skin. If you forget to blend, you'll look like you are wearing a mask, so remember to do it!
I use a mineral foundation, but there are bajillions of other kinds, just like I said about concealers. Once again, use what you find comfortable.

Step 3: Powder over your foundation

(Gosh, you can really see the awful color of my foundation here. Good thing Dad messed up even more and got me a powder that was too light!)
Ahem. Anyway, powder over your foundation.

And now, your base are belong to us is complete!

Mine looks like this:

And now, for...

Eye Makeup:

Step 1: Choose a light brown eyeshadow that is a somewhat similar color to your skin.

I'll be using this one.

Apply it over your eyelid. Do not apply it all the way up to your eyebrow; leave some space. The red potato-shaped-thingie in the picture above should give you an idea of where to apply it.

Step 2: Choose a darker brown eyeshadow.

I'll be using this one.

Apply it from the roots of your eyelashes to halfway to your eye fold. Blend it with the light brown eyeshadow.

Step 3: Choose a white or cream eyeshadow.

However in an attempt to bring some glam to this tutorial, I'm going to use white body glitter! 8D

Apply it here. (Bwahaha, no red potato!) Blend it with the light brown eye shadow. (Are you starting to see a pattern?)
This pic is not blended, and you can see how hot and sexy awful it looks.

Step 4: Choose a white or cream eyeshadow pencil or concealer.

For glam purposes, I'm using white and glitter!

(The red potato returns! Only it's not a potato... it's a.... um... a... worm? EEW, GET IT OFF MY FACE!!!)
Ok. Well, apply the worm pencil or whatever you're using around the inside corner of your eye. Blend it. (If you didn't see the pattern before, you must be seeing it now.)

Step 5: Apply your eyeliner in a shape you like!

This is mine!

Then...

You guessed it - BLEND IT!

And so, your eye makeup is done!

Next...

Blush:

Step 1: Take a bronzer powder or a face powder that's darker than your skintone.

Here's mine. -_-;

Okay. The next instruction is weird, but follow it.

Stick the tip of a finger in your mouth and suck it.

Apply the powder in those hollows that your cheeks got. Start in front of your ear, and run the brush down where the hollows were, and stop a bit before your mouth. Don't forget to blend it into your foundation.

Step 2: Take a light pink blush

The one I use.

This one is probably the hardest to describe. Apply this brush on the top edge of the dark powder. It'll be higher on your face, but not on the apples of your cheeks.

Brush a little on your nose and chin as well.

You're done with the blush!

Lips:

In classic, you have to main options here: red lips or natural lips. Usually, I rock the red lips, but I wanted to do something a bit differrent this time. So, you get the other one.

Step 1: Moisturize your lips with the moisturizer you used at the beginning.

I forgot to take a pic, but this is really easy, so whatever.

Step 2: Apply concealer.

The moisturizer really helps this go on smooth.

Nude out your lips so they look like this:

Step 3: Choose a light pink lipstick or lipgloss.

Sticking to my subtle glitter theme, a light rose lipgloss with sparkles in it. ♥

(Ohshit, the red potato is back! And the worm grew!!!)
Yeah. Um. Apply as shown in the picture. Blend (I need to find another word for that) the lipgloss over the lips, but keep it concentrated on the marked areas.

And, guess what?

YOU'RE DONE!!!

Here's how it looks: very natural, very subtle, very pretty!

I hope you enjoyed this!!!

And, please leave me constructive criticism and/or suggestions. Since I'm only a novice in makeup, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!
