i wish that it was as simple as that, deciding on how to make the country better, or even just a good ol' plan good vs. evil fight would be much better than the reality. but in this time and day, things just aren't that black and white, which is why so many members of the opposing side are being such bitches (i guess i'm referring to my side?), because it's not just a la-di-da-let's-make-the-country-better-yay thing, it's a nasty, dirty, political world. it's so much more. but if it wasn't, and if everyone was an honest, good, and sincere person, then shit wouldn't be this difficult to come to an agreement. i agree.
p.s. FOX news is hilariously stupid. rush limbaugh is pretty entertaining as well, but a lot better than the big news corps. i think FOX was the one who tried to make this huge scandal out of Obama bowing to some foreign country's leader or something? ridiculous.
it is tru that FOX and its extremists like Rush Limbaugh are hilariously stupid, but I consider Keith Olbermann to be the Rush Limbaugh of of the Liberals,,, and also pretty ridiculous at times. I am leftist rememeber. Extremism is gross coming from either side.
i agree that mostly the channel just makes me laugh or agitates my views but it's fun to watch and im a glutton for punishment. also: we can't really sit here and believe we on the opposing left aren't guilty of some of the same, i don't know, rudeness? however, most of our rudeness takes place on comedy shows like colbert, maher, or stewart while they call it news...which is pretty damn laughable. CNN isn't quite as guilty of their overt bias, but they are definitely a little guilty. we all know full well what side cnn is on. however, they do tend to follow journalistic policy a bit closer... i can't really watch some of the things fox news puts on as "news" pieces without rolling my eyes--they are in such complete violation of the tenants of journalism. and the fear mongering and bad metaphors and weak conclusions are pretty irritating. i could go on but i'd feel a bit hypocritical as it may be seen as bashing the right side right after i posted something about getting along with them.. while fox news is a part of the right
( ... )
You make an excellent point. It is pretty disgraceful that either side spends more time attacking what is in their opinion flawed idealogy from the opposite side. Like you I am also a left-ist, and I often find myself coming under attack from none other than my own father. I know I could gather as much ammunition and anti-right philosophy as possible in order to engage a counter attacked, but #1 my father has a very weak heart + high stress level, and #2, no matter how much I try to push he is always going to be pro-life, pro-death penalty, anti-welfare, pro-oil... he comes from a stubborn God Fearing soldier of the final frontier and thats fine... I will nnever change him and even if I did it is not going to make any difference on this planet.
You you are so right em, it is not about attacking those who view things differently, but being at peace with eachothers differences and instead of fighting with eachother, just VOTE and support the campaign of the parties which you believe would do the best job.
Agreed. A lot of people tend to be stubborn and brainwashed (for either side).
My friend's mother ranted about how she hates Obama but could not come up with any reason, besides what her boyfriend was telling her. My friend told me, "She didn't even pay attention to the election, she only wanted McCain to win because she's a Republican."
We were talking about the election once and she did not know ONE thing that either candidate stood for...I'm getting slightly off subject here.
Anyways, I wish people would look at both sides of the spectrum and be informed before making any judgments.
