I adored this. It's one of the best stories from Holmes' point of view I've read in a very long time. Really convincing voice. I could definitely see Holmes being this honest with himself. Lovely prose too! I'm going to save this up for a rec list, if I ever get organised enough to make one ;)

For the paragraph spacing: I think what you have looks fine, but you could always put an extra
between paragraphs.

I don't know whether you usually paste fics into the rich text editor or the html editor when you're posting to livejournal? I past the words into the html editor, then make sure that 'Disable Auto-formatting' is not checked, and lj does the paragraph spacing automatically. But if you want even more spacing you can type
between each paragraph and that will put an extra blank line.

BUT if you're pasting into the html editor then you'll have to add some html to get the bold type in your header. You just type word that you want to put in bold

Apologies if I'm explaining something you already knew!

I probably look like I have a better idea of what's going on from the header and summary bit, but that's just because I've read a ridiculous amount of fanfic in the past (including all of yours at various points in time), but I'm actually completely making it up as I go along... :)
