I hate hospitals. Maybe that's partly why I can't become a doctor ( Read more... )

You could become a pediatrician and have your own little office in a nice area...that way you could avoid having to deal with the hospital scene on a daily basis (I don't really like hospitals either).

haha, aww little kids.
But I'd have to teleport to get that...otherwise, I'd still walk through the hospital with all the people.

I'd say that Newton South is selectively tolerant. On the issue of gay rights, for example, South is very tolerant of the gay people...but not those who say gays are teh evil and shouldn't marry. On the other hand, it's impossible to be accepting of all opinions. There are always bound to be disagreements. Still, it is unfortunate that, as you said, there is such a lack of political diversity. It makes it impossible to turn those disagreements into meaningful debates. Not pro-Israel? Then it's best to keep your mouth shut. So all you end up with are a bunch of people with the same opinions convincing each other of things they already believe.

Exactly. We are tolerant in the sense of being liberal, that we accept gays, etc. etc. but we are not tolerant of other people's viewpoints.
I don't think I said that right..eh.

Definitely impossible to be accepting of opinions, though I think Newton South is closer to an extreme than a difficult to find medium. I'm hoping college will be different.

Probably. We are in a) New England, b) Massachussets, c) greater Boston area, and d) in a place with a high concentration of upper-middle-class Jews. All of which compund on the liberal-ness. College brings together people with more diverse opinions and backgrounds (even if you stay in a, b, c, and d).

I completely agree about hospitals. I know that good things can happen there, people can get cured and all that but..I just associate them with the bad stuff and hate being there.
