I think that Arisia is the place where a lot of people I know find their people. It's not really that for me, so I haven't gone in years, although this year I hear Nora Jemisen is going and I lovelovelove her writing and so am a tiny bit sad for the first time. (Which I guess suggests another reason: rampant fangirling opportunities, if this is your kind of writing.)
